About Us

The Rainbow Centre is a Caribbean and African user-led, intergenerational volunteer project serving Crumpsall and Cheetham Hill, which are considered two of the most ethnically diverse places in Europe and among the most deprived areas of Manchester. Our main purpose is to offer services run for, and by, local people, ensuring equality, empowerment and enablement. This is evident in the intergenerational presence of our participants, who determine and implement our activities. These activities are designed to increase training, education and employability with health and wellbeing at the heart of all we do. Helping to develop social connections, build resilience and independence to meet individual needs and aspirations.

Many of our projects are local with a few reaching city-wide, such as the Heart Mind and Soul Community Choir, the Smile Box delivery programme and our Long Covid Support group.

The Rainbow Centre Works with: Greater Manchester VCFSE Network, Tesco Cheetham Hill, B&Q Cheetham Hill, Manchester City Council, Northwards Housing, Jonnie Johnston housing, Manchester Enhanced Community Response Team, Manchester Local Care Organisation, Cheetham Hill Advice Centre, Growing Together Partnership, Public Health Manchester, Winning Hearts & Minds, Macc and several other key organisations across Manchester.

We host several regular meetings with the police, local councillors and other statutory organisations who often hire the centre. In addition to the local Anti-Poverty Group and 22 organisations across North Manchester.
